During COP 29, the Peoples’ Summit held two side events, promoted political and bilateral articulations, took part in protests and collective actions, and intensified international mobilization toward the realization of the Peoples’ Summit on the road to COP 30, in Belém. This presence was marked by denouncing false climate solutions, such as carbon markets and the financialization of nature, and by defending climate justice, historical reparations, and adequate public financing for countries of the Global South. Throughout the conference, the Summit reaffirmed that the climate crisis is directly linked to social inequalities, environmental racism, colonialism, and corporate power, strengthening international alliances and projecting peoples, territories, and the Amazon as protagonists in building real solutions to the climate crisis.
