At COP28 in Dubai, Brazilian social movements and organizations handed a letter to President Lula, reaffirming their commitment to creating an autonomous civil society process, the Peoples’ Summit, for COP30 in Brazil in 2025. The delivery was attended by around 130 representatives, including the Minister of the Environment, Marina Silva, the Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Sônia Guajajara, and the Governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.
